Why do you post pictures of dogs?

While we try to ensure that the majority of our pictures are of wolves, dogs and wolf hybrids may occasionally make an appearance. If this bothers you, we sincerely apologize and suggest that you consider that you don’t pay us to do this.

I would like to help out, can I join?

As time goes on we find ourselves needing more and more participation, and cycle through members regularly. We’ll let you know when we’re looking for more folks! Plus, if you would like to make an even larger contribution you can always visit our welfare page.

That wolf looks dead! Why would you post that?

We try not to post pictures of dead wolves. However, as it has become hard to identify between stuffed and non-stuffed wolves in certain photos, we have had to make it a policy of not posting anything that looks even remotely iffy.

If you happen to find something in our archive our even in our recent posts that you think may not be of a living wolf, please let us know so that we can remove it.

Why don’t you credit your photos?

We do not own any of these photos unless stated otherwise. It is hard sometimes to find original copyrights of photos, so instead we opt for a universal declaration of reclaimed ownership.

When we are able to find original sources, we are sure to credit them appropriately.

If we have mis-credited or not credited a photo that you have taken, please let us know so that we can add it in and get you the credit you deserve. If for whatever reason you would like a photo removed, please contact us in the ask box. We will attempt to verify that you are in fact the photographer, and then remove the piece.

I submitted something and you did not post it, why?

Reasons, which may or may not include ‘Admin X didn’t like it’, ‘we’ve posted it before’ or ‘this is a honey badger what are you smoking’.

You didn’t answer my question.

We receive a lot of questions, it’s nearly impossible to answer them all in a timely manner.

We do not discard of messages before assessing their priority, and will sometimes answer large sums of questions all at once. We appreciate all of your thanks and praises, we read every single message and without all of your love and support there wouldn’t have been a FYWS since October 2010!

You are very rude.

Deal with it. Sorry, right, okay. My bad.

Please deal with it.

Why aren’t you updating?/Post more!

We’re people too, and we don’t always remember or have the spoons to fill up the queue when it gets empty. In the mean time, if you really need your wolf fix then we humbly recommend visiting:

I want a wolf! How do I get one?

Wolves are not domestic animals and should not be kept as such. Every year wolves and wolf hybrids abandoned or neglected by unprepared owners end up in wolf sanctuaries - but even more end up simply being put down, often for aggressive behavior. Wolf sanctuaries simply don’t have the means or ability to care for every abandoned animal or to correct the problems of irresponsible ownership.

Wolves are not dogs. Dogs may come from wolves, but they are the product of thousands of years of human selection and breeding to get them away from a number of their ancestors’ characteristics.

Are there some responsible wolf owners out there? We certainly hear from them every time we smack down a misguided attempt by someone to obtain a ‘pet’ wolf.

But that responsible wolf owner is probably not going to be you. It is unnecessary that you will be that responsible wolf owner. You likely do not have the resources, connections, or preparations to be a responsible wolf owner.

Before considering a wolf or wolf hybrid, think about why you want to own one. Is it because of the way they look? There are plenty of dog breeds out there that resemble wolves physically, but not in temperament.

If you want a wolf because the idea sounds ‘cool’ to you, maybe you need to re-evaluate your reasons for wanting an animal in general, let alone one that should be in the wild.

So no, we won’t tell you where to buy a wolf.

RARR HUMANS SUCK EVERYONE SUCKS VIOLENCE AND DEATH UPON ANY THAT WOULD HARM THE NOBLE AND MAJESTIC WOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111

This blog is (and will always be) pro-human. Further, we’re specieist enough to say that humans will always come first.

Wishing death upon your fellow man often ignores the realities of why wolf abuse occurs and does nothing to solve the problem - instead further polarizing an already touchy issue.

It’s often outraging to hear of animal abuse. We understand - trust me, we really really do.

But try not to advocate human abuse while you’re at it.
